Goodweave / Rugmark
Since 2009, the GoodWeave seal replaces the old Rugmark seal and was able to successfully realize the targets of the NGO set since 1995. Until today, the central focus of their work is to provide reasonable salaries for employees in the carpet weaving business and to eliminate exploitive child labour.
Their work is sponsored by famous institutions of development like Brot für die Welt, UNICEF, Misereor, terre des homes and the German Society for Technical cooperation but also the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
Furthermore, their concept also includes the compliance with humane working hours, environmental standards, secure and hygienic working conditions and the possibility of education for former child workers. In order to ensure the GoodWeave standards, independent inspectors regularly check the production facilities and products without advance notice. Many of the wool rugs, offered at benuta meet these standards and are therefore certified with the GoodWeave seal.
